1.         Official Opening

The Chief Executive Officer welcomed Superintendent Allan Adams, District Superintendent for the Kimberley Police District, Councillors and members of the public.  He declared the meeting open at 5.01pm.

The Chief Executive Officer outlined the procedures for the swearing in of newly elected Councillors and the process for the election of the Shire President and Deputy Shire President.  He advised that he would be presiding over the meeting up until the Shire President was formally sworn in.

3.         swearing in of newly elected councillors

 

 

The following elected Councillors read aloud and signed the Declaration required under the Local Government Act 1995, and were formally sworn in, witnessed by Superintendent Allan Adams:

1.    Cr Desiree Male

2.    Cr Catherine Marriott

3.    Cr Philip Matsumoto

4.    Cr Harold Tracey

 

  

4.         election of shire presidenT

 

 

The Chief Executive Officer called for nominations in writing for the position of Shire President. The following candidates were nominated:

1.          Cr C Mitchell           Nominated in writing by Cr C Mitchell

2.          Cr H Tracey              Nominated in writing by Cr D Male and Cr E Foy

Ballot papers were drawn.  The meeting was adjourned at 5.11pm to prepare the ballot papers and resumed at 5.12pm.

The vote was conducted by secret ballot with the Chief Executive Officer as the Returning Officer.

The Chief Executive officer declared Cr H Tracey elected as Shire President for a period of two years. Vote: 8/1.

Cr H Tracey having read aloud and signed the Declaration required under the Local Government Act 1995, was formally sworn in as Shire President before Superintendent Allan Adams.

 

   

Cr H Tracey then took up the position of Shire President and assumed the Chair for the remainder of the meeting at 5.15pm.

5.         election of deputy shire presidenT

 

 

The Shire President called for nominations in writing for the position of Deputy Shire President.  The following nominations were received:

1.          Cr D Male                Nominated in writing by Cr B Rudeforth and Cr W Fryer

2.          Cr C Mitchell          Nominated in writing by Cr C Mitchell

3.          Cr P Matsumoto     Nominated in writing by Cr E Foy

Ballot papers were drawn.  The meeting was adjourned at 5.18pm to prepare the ballot papers and resumed at 5.20pm.

The vote was conducted by secret ballot with the Chief Executive Officer as the Returning Officer.

The Shire President declared Cr D Male elected as Deputy Shire President for a period of two years. Vote: 6/1/2.

Cr D Male having read aloud and signed the Declaration required under the Local Government Act 1995, was formally sworn in as Deputy Shire President before Superintendent Allan Adams.

 

  

7.         meeting closure

There being no further business the Chairperson declared the meeting closed at 5.24pm.
